A guide for a Diet after having C-section

After you give birth to your baby, your body’s nutritional needs will raise rapidly to help you recover and increase the quality of your breast milk. However, if you had a C-section, these needs are even at a higher level. Unlike normal births, mothers who give birth by a cesarean section will have to suffer much bigger pain caused by abdominal wounds. Therefore you will a more nutritious and reasonable diet to help you heal better. Here is our guide about your diet after C- section.

What should you eat right after having C-section

Within the first 6-8 hours after birth, you will normally not allowed to eat anything as there is still a quite amount of gas that trapped inside your body. This condition happened due to your intestines and stomach are affected during the section, making bowel movements decrease. Thereby, the gas produced in your body can not exist. If you are too hungry, you can eat a small amount of vegetarian soup or fruit juice. After your intestines and stomach work again you can start eating other normal foods.

A healthy diet to restore your health

If you used to have good eating habits while you were pregnant, keeping these habits is still a great ideal. However, you should improve the number of foods that are high in protein, vitamin C, and iron in your diet. These nutrients are very important to help you restore your health after the C section.

Protein is the key to the healing process and is needed for the growth of new tissue. It is also the main source of energy for your body to work and heal. Foods rich in protein are meats, fish, chicken, eggs, dairy foods, nuts, dried beans, and peas.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C plays an important role in healing and fighting infection. Green vegetables and ripe fruits contain a lot of vitamin C that can boost your immune system to prevent different kinds of illnesses. In addition, you may face constipation as your bowel movements may not fully functional yet. Therefore vitamin C and fiber in greens vegetable or fruits will help you prevent constipation and even hemorrhoids. Foods that normally high in vitamin C are oranges, grapefruits, strawberries, melons, and papayas.

Iron helps the immune system and is needed for hemoglobin. In addition, iron also essential to stimulate blood production and wounds healing. Obviously, you will lose a big amount of blood during the surgery. So, supply more iron will help you feel less pain and heal faster. Red meats, liver, dried beans, dried fruits, and iron-enriched cereals are good sources for iron.

Prenatal vitamin and supplements after C section

As your digest system may still weak after the C section, you may have to absorb the nutrients by other supplements. Your doctor may want you to keep taking your prenatal vitamins and iron pills for the first 6 weeks after the C section. Remember to take 1 iron pill a day as taking more may upset your stomach.  It takes about 6 months for your body to restore its supply of iron. Therefore combining foods and supplements will help your body get the amount of iron it needs to heal. If you are bottle-feeding your newborn, you can take an over-the-counter vitamin with iron for 6 months. If you are breastfeeding, it is normally recommended that you take prenatal vitamins for as long as you breast-feed.

Drink plenty of Fluids after C Section

It is important to drink plenty of fluids after you give birth in general and especially after a C section. Drinking enough fluids every day will help you stay hydrated and prevent constipation. Drink 8 to 10 eight-ounce glasses of fluids each day. It does not have to be water. You can drink low-fat milk, non-sweetened fruit juices, or eat low-fat yogurt. It is recommended that you add 200 – 500 extra calories to your diet as well. Extra calories and fluids are needed for making high-quality milk. You can add the extra calories by drinking extra fruit juices and low-fat milk. Also, you should try to include foods rich in Vitamin A such as greens, cantaloupes, carrots, and sweet potatoes.

There you go, now you have our guide about your diet after C- section. In addition to having a good diet, you should take time to relax and do exercises to help your body heal faster. Do you have any recipes that are great for a postpartum mother? Share with us in the comments!

The Montessori Education Method

The early years of life from 0 to 6 years old are an important time for a child’s comprehensive development in both personality, intelligence, and physical well-being. Therefore, educating children at an early age is very much concerned with parents. Nowadays, there are different educating methods that are widely shared and used by parents all around the world. If you are a new parent, you may want to discover an educating method that can help your baby’s development. Let us introduce you to the Montessori education method – A method that has been chosen by many parents to educate their children.

What is the Montessori education Method?

This is a pedagogy that educates children based on the research and experience of Italian physician and educator Maria Montessori (1870–1952). This is one of the methods that educate children through visual aids. Montessori education is student-led and self-paced. But guided, assessed, and enriched by caring teachers, the leadership of their peers, and a nurturing environment.

Advantages of the Montessori method

Unlike traditional education, the Montessori education method especially emphasizes the role of activeness, independence, potential, and building children’s personality. Your baby is free to explore and discover the world around them at will, under the teacher’s guidance. They will learn how to take care of themselves by doing the smallest things such as washing their hands, changing clothes, or arranging their stuff instead of asking their parents or adults to help.

In a Montessori class, your baby will discover subjects and areas such as Mathematics, Language, Life Practice, and Music in the most natural way. Their learning process will be supported by different tools and visual aids. Therefore, this method will help them develop their STEM skills as well.

Your baby will be able to follow their curiosity at their own pace, taking the time they need to fully understand each concept and meet individualized learning goals.  The result that this method will bring to your children is they will grow up to and become confident, enthusiastic, and self-directed learners and citizens, accountable to both themselves and their community. They will have the ability to think critically, work collaboratively, and act boldly with integrity.

Your Child Will not Be Imposed

The Montessori method respects the freedom of children as they choose what they will study. In Montessori classes, your baby will be free to choose their favorite activities according to the pace of their development. This method prioritizes the development of their focusing ability, eagerness to learn, and memorizing skills. In some cases, parents or teachers impose their thoughts and actions on their children. This is completely against Montessori principles as it will make children lose the ability to think inherently. In the Montessori method, children should discover new things naturally in the way they want. Therefore, it will help them learn to be independent and stimulate their intellect.

In the Montessori classes, learning always comes with practice

Many research shows that the best way to help children make good use of what they have learned is to get them involved in practical activities. Your children tend to imitate activities that they observe themselves. In the Montessori classes, your baby will be shown how to carry out tasks. Therefore, your child can have their own ways to do these activities. Furthermore, they will experience different daily life skills like changing clothes, keep while doing activities.  In addition, your baby will learn good habits in life such as waiting for their turn, waiting for the activities they want to do, making constructive comments, and listening to others. These skills will help you become more confident, proactive, and be ready for their future life.

No Reward Or Punishment Exists

Unlike the traditional method, the Montessori education method does not have rewards and punishment. You will never find a mark in your child notebooks, If your child is doing something wrong, they will not have punishments. Instead, they will be shown how to do the right thing and correct their mistakes. When they do something good, your baby will be encouraged and acknowledged for their efforts instead of receiving rewards or get praise. The main focus of this method is helping the child to be aware of what they are doing wrong, not how serious the problems are.

Teachers are your baby’s guide

In most Montessori classes a trained teacher and an assistant will take care of a group of 30 students. The focus is always on one-to-one support. The teachers are not going to give your child homework or teach them subjects. They will take the role of guiding your baby on their own exploration. As mentioned, teachers in Montessori will not give marks to the students. However, they will observe the children and identify a child’s interests so they can guide them appropriately.

There you go, now you have the things you should know about the Montessori education method. If you are considering this method for your baby, we recommend you connect to  The American Montessori Society for the best advice. When To Take a Pregnancy Test

Pregnancy test

Although the pregnancy test tool has become so familiar. When there is a need to determine if they and their partners are about to become parents, not everyone knows how to do the test properly. In fact, a lot of people use the pregnancy test tool shortly after sex which leads to false results. So to help you to have a proper pregnancy test result, here is our guide for when you should take a pregnancy test.

The Best Time to Take a Pregnancy Test

Pregnancy Test

For a pregnancy test result to be accurate, you should use the tool after about one week that you have a missed period. Although you are impatient to be pregnant and don’t want to wait until your period comes to know the result, at least wait patiently for a week or two after having sex to take the test. The reason for this is after successfully conceiving, your body will need some time to secrete the amount of hCG that can be detected by the pregnancy test.

Experts say at least 50 hCG units are needed in the urine for pregnancy tests to give a more accurate result. For some people, this amount of hCG can reach 50 units even before they find their periods are missing. Conversely, there will be cases where it takes more time for the body to generate enough amount of hCG. Therefore, If you take the pregnancy test early, you may get the wrong result. If the pregnancy test shows that you are not pregnant, but you have not yet had your period, you should try again after 3 days. Another important note is that you should use a pregnancy test in the morning because this is the time when hCG levels in urine are highest.

Signs Show that You Should Take a Pregnancy Test

Late Menstruation

Late menstruation is one of the earliest pregnancy symptoms you can easily spot. If you do not track your monthly menstrual routine, it may be more difficult to determine if you are really having a late period. Usually, you’d have a menstrual cycle of about 28 days, so you may want to consider using a pregnancy test one month after your last period.

In addition, you should also pay attention to the amount of blood during your period if you suspect you are pregnant. You may experience bleeding when your embryo moves and attaches to the wall of the uterus. Many people mistake this with a normal menstrual cycle. However, there are many other causes of delayed menstruation despite not being pregnant such as psychological stress, your diet, or doing different exercises. Therefore, you should review your overall health status before believing that missed periods are due to pregnancy.

You Feel Exhausted

If the conception happened, your body will produce more progesterone to prepare for your pregnancy period. This hormone raises your body temperature and makes you burn more energy. Your heart rate will also increase to ensure adequate oxygen supply to the ovaries. Furthermore, your body will have to work more than usual to supply nutrients to both you and your baby. As a result, you may feel tired in the first week of pregnancy. In addition, because your baby needs extra oxygen to develop, sometimes you will find it difficult to breathe.

You Have Cramps

The process of conception can cause a reaction in your body similar to the sensation of cramps during menstruation. At this stage, you may feel uncomfortable and think your period is coming. But then the period may come later than usual. This is one of the most noticeable signs of pregnancy, but it is often overlooked in the early stages of pregnancy. Take a pregnancy test if you notice this sign.

Your Breasts have some Changes

During pregnancy, the amount of hormones estrogen and progesterone will be produced more and the body will gradually appear to change to support baby nursing. One of the first changes you may notice is that your breasts may become more sensitive, tight, and increase in size due to increased blood flow in this area. The nipple may also become darker and the veins under the skin will become more prominent. If you notice these changes, you may want to take the pregnancy test to confirm.

Other Symptoms of Pregnancy

Morning sickness

Along with the symptoms of cramps, exhaustion, and tight breasts,  you may find other unusual symptoms show up if you are pregnant. These symptoms include nausea, losing appetite, and frequent urination. These symptoms may show up very early in the first 3 months of pregnancy. Normally you will start to experience nausea and lose your appetite in about 4 – 8 weeks of pregnancy. If you notice these symptoms appear more and more clearly, it will prove that your level of hCG is now enough for the pregnancy test.

Your Contraception Failed

Even if you use a condom or birth control pill, there is always a small percentage that you will get pregnant after having sex. Currently, no contraceptive method can completely prevent you from getting pregnant apart from sterilization. Therefore, if you find your body has the mentioned symptoms after a short time having sex, you should take a pregnancy test for reassurance.

There you go, now you know when you should take a pregnancy test. Remember that impatience can lead to false results. So wait a little bit and make sure that you follow the test instructions. Do you have any questions? Let us know in the comments!

A Guide for the Pregnancy Test

Pregnancy test

Although the pregnancy test tool has become so familiar to women when there is a need to determine if they and their husbands are about to become parents, many people are quite confused and do not fully understand the meaning of the lines that are shown on a pregnancy test. Here is our simple guide to help you read the pregnancy test result.

What is a Pregnancy Test and How to Use It?

A pregnancy test is a tool to help you to check whether you are pregnant or not. This tool mechanism is quite simple. It will respond to the hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) concentration in the urine sample, also known as the pregnancy hormone. Only during conception, the concentration of HCG in urine will appear and increase to confirm that a baby is growing up in your belly.

Early signs and symptoms of pregnancy if you think you're expecting

There are many types and brands of pregnancy tests on the market. The relative use of a pregnancy test is not too complicated. Most of them have the following basic steps:

  • Read the instructions carefully before using the container
  • Wash your hands with warm water and soap, then carefully remove the test strip from the box and wrap.
  • Prepare a device (cup / small cup) for urine
  • Insert the pregnancy test strip into the urine container with the arrow pointing down. Note: Do not allow the urine to flood the arrows.
  • Leave the stick in the cup for 5-10 minutes and then lift it.
  • Read the result on the pregnancy test.

A Correct Way To Read A Pregnancy Test

Though many electronic pregnancy test devices can tell you the result accurately, the pregnancy test stick/strip is the most common device as they are not expensive and can be bought everywhere.

The Stick Shows 2 Bold Colored Lines

Congratulations, you are pregnant!!. Now you should make an appointment with your doctor for further examination and tests. After that, you can start monitoring the pregnancy.

Pregnancy Symptoms: 14 Early Signs You May Be Pregnant | Parents

The Stick Shows 1 Bold Line And 1 Faint Line

This result shows that you are probably pregnant. But it is possible that the fetus has just formed an embryo and the HCG concentration is still low, leading to the color of the line being quite pale. The longer you conceive, the more visible the color. It is best to try again after a few days. To make sure, you can visit your doctor to do tests and get an accurate result.

The Stick shows 2 Faint lines:

This result may have different meanings:

  • You are pregnant but still early to confirm. So please wait a few more days and try again.
  • You are pregnant but have an early miscarriage. Due to early miscarriage, the strip still detects the presence of hCG in the urine, but there is no live embryo.
  • You are not pregnant, and the reason is that you leave the test strip outside for too long before reading the results.

There is only 1 Bold line

This result normally means that you are not pregnant. But if you still think you are pregnant, you can try the test again after a few days or visit your doctor for a proper test.

No Line Appears On The Stick

In this case, the results cannot be read. The pregnancy test has failed due to improper storage, or the urine sample is not guaranteed or handling is incorrect. When this happens, you should use another strip, read the instructions carefully and try again.

The Result of a Pregnancy Test may be not Correct in Some Situations

  • You are having an ectopic pregnancy, a false pregnancy. This may lead to false results or the results may be different at each time. In some cases, you may have a non-pregnant result, but you still experience the obvious symptoms of pregnancy
  • The result will be incorrect if you have an ovarian cyst.
  • If you drink too much water before the pregnancy test, the HCG levels will be diluting, leading to inaccurate results.
  • IF you use poor quality, imitation or expired stick, applying the most accurate pregnancy test method still does not give the correct results.
  • Medicines such as diuretics, tranquilizers, and antibiotics are more or less likely to cause false test results.
